KHUJAND, November 30, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Head of children’s sports school in one of Sughd’s districts has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing.
According to the Sughd counternarcotics directorate, he was detained on November 29 when he was trying to push 1.634 kilograms of heroin. “The detainee is champion of Tajikistan in sambo wrestling (self-defense without a weapon) and his name is not disclosed in the interest of investigation,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the drug peddler under the provisions of Article 200 (drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
