DUSHANBE , December 11, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Drug Control Agency have seized 821.623 kilograms of narcotics in January-November 2009, which is 34 percent more than in the same period of last year, according to the DCA press service.
A totaled included 311.763 kilograms of heroin, 209.64 kilograms of raw opium and 300.22 kilograms of cannabis.
Over the same eleven month period, the counter narcotics agency has instituted 124 criminal proceedings on the drug charges; 103 criminal proceedings against 133 persons have already moved to courts.
Over the report period, the DCA has burnt 1,879.497 kilograms of narcotics that were seized in the course of 2008-09.
In January-November 2009, the drug control officers have carried out four joint operations in cooperation with Tajik law enforcement authorities and border troops that have resulted in the seizure of more than 75 kilograms of narcotics, including 10.688 kilograms of heroin, 12.774 kilograms of raw opium and 52.55 kilograms of cannabis, the DCA press service said.
