DUSHANBE, December 29, 2009, Asia-Plus -- In January-November this year, Dushanbe has produced a total of 454.4 million somoni worth of industrial goods, which is 4.2 percent more than in the same period of 2008 (in January-November 2008, Tajik capital produced 436.2 million somoni worth of industrial goods), according to the Dushanbe mayor’s office press service.
Over the same eleven-month period, Dushanbe has produced 148 million somoni worth of consumer goods, which is 22 percent more than in January-November 2008.
Over the report period, an external trade turnover of Dushanbe has amounted to 226 million U.S. dollars somoni, which is 80.3 percent of the January-November 2008 level. Exports of goods in January-November 2009 have amounted to 8.8 million U.S. dollars, while imports of goods into the city over the report period have amounted to 217.3 million U.S. dollars.
As of November 1, 2009, the city population was estimated at more than 704,000. Some 2,800 unemployed have been officially registered in Dushanbe over the first eleven months.
Current average monthly wage in Dushanbe is estimated at 553 somoni (equivalent to more than 127 U.S. dollars).
