KULOB, December 29, 2009, Asia-Plus -- 125,542 residents, of the southern province of Khatlon, including 115,809 men and 9,734 women, have left the country this year seeking better employment opportunities, Abdurahmon Buzmakov, the deputy chief of the Khatlon police directorate in charge of the Kulob zone, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“Of them, 65,575 people, including 1,443 women, are young people aged 19 to 29 and more than 43,000 others, including 3,507 women, are people aged 30 to 40,” Buzmakov said.
According to him, the Khatlon province has received the bodies of 112 of its residents, primarily from Russia, over the report period. Besides, 80 residents of the province have been convicted in the Russian Federation for different crimes this year.
