DUSHANBE, December 30, 2009, Asia-Plus -- More than 90 percent of this year’s cotton fields have reportedly been made ready for plowing, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
“Of 170,400 hectares of lands that were sown with cotton this year, 150,500 hectares have already been cleared of ghuzapoya (dried cotton stems) and made ready for plowing,” the source at a MoA said.
In the meantime, Saidmurod Bahriddinov, the head of the MoA crop sector department, told Asia-Plus that Tajikistan would allocate some 200,000 hectares for cotton in 2010.
