KULOB, December 30, Asia-Plus -- The People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) will compete for all 40 seats in the Kulob city legislature and five seats in the Khatlon regional legislature, Khursand Azamov, the head of the PDPT organization for the city of Kulob, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
Elections to local legislatures will also take place on February 28, 2009 and PPDT will nominate many new candidates, he added.
“At least 70 percent of members of the current Kulob city legislature representing our party will be replaced with more active members of the party,” said Azamov, “PDPT controls 35 of 40 seats in the current Kulob legislature.”
