DUSHANBE, January 22, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Two state-run daily newspapers are expected to be published in the country starting from this year, Mirzobadal Badalov, head of the publishing houses and the press department within the Minister of Culture (MoC), said.
According to him, this is provided for Tajikistan’s information policy concept that was endorsed last year.
“Under this concept, one daily newspapers should published in the state language (Tajik) and another one should be published in foreign languages, including Russian, English, Arabic and Persian,” the MoC official said, noting that they will be the first daily newspapers in Tajikistan since 1992.
According to the Ministry of Culture, 201 newspapers, 98 magazines, 44 publishing houses, 148 printing houses and seven news agencies now function in Tajikistan.
