DUSHANBE, January 22, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Education program TEMPUS announces Information Day, which is held in Dushanbe today, according to the Delegation of the European Commission to Tajikistan.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan, Education, Audiovisual and Cultural Executive Agency (EACEA), Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, Tajik National University and National Tempus Office in Tajikistan (NTO).
The Information Day is supported by the Tempus Coordinator in Eastern Europe and Central Asia Ms. Alba Chiara Tiberi, representing EACEA (Brussels, Belgium).
It is expected that the representatives of country''s higher education universities, line Ministries and organizations, EU MS and candidate countries Embassies, International organizations, involved in the education sector, will participate in the event.
The European Union funded Tempus program aimed at facilitating the reform in higher education systems through funding the joint projects between the European and higher education institutions of the partner-countries in Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, in the Northern Africa and Middle East.
Overall Program budget, allocated by the European Union to five Central-Asian republics, amounts EUR 4.5 million. The deadline for on-line application is March 9, 2010. Implementation of the selected projects will start October 15, 2010.
There are four projects implemented in Tajikistan on the basis of the seven higher education universities and with the participation of the non-academic institutions. New curricula in the areas of renewable energy sources management, information technologies, strengthening the links with the production/science and promotion of Bologna process and assessment of higher education quality are being drafted with the close cooperation of the European Universities.
