DUSHANBE, January 27, 2010, Asia-Plus - In 2009, all types of transportation shipped more than 19 million tons of cargo, which is 101.9 percent of the 2008 level, according to the Ministry of transport and Communications (MoTC).
During the report period, Tajik transport served more than 155 million passengers, which is 4.4 percent more than in 2008.
5 million tons of cargo were shipped by automotive transportation last year and general purpose transport carried some 154 million passengers over the report period, the source at a MoTC said.
According to him, funds for use of Tajikistan’s highways by foreign transport replenished the country’s budget with 16 million somoni (equivalent to more than 3.6 million U.S. dollars), the source added.
