DUSHANBE, January 27, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Country Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Tajikistan will hand over humanitarian aid to residents of the Vanj district in Gorno Badakhshan, which was affected by a strong earthquake on January 2, in the near future, according to the UNFPA CO in Tajikistan.
The humanitarian aid worth 65,000 U.S dollars includes medical equipment, medicaments, 500 hygienic sets and 500 warm blankets. A part of the assistance, including special medical equipment and medicines, will be handed over to the central district hospital in Vanj.
Besides, to strengthen emergency obstetric care at obstetrical institutions of Tajikistan the UNFPA CO has handed over two ambulance cars for a total amount of more than 55,000 U.S. dollars to the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Tajikistan.
