DUSHANBE, February 6, 2010, Asia-Plus -- An operation by drug control officers has led to the seizure of a large amount of narcotics in the southern Khatlon province.
According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press service, the 41-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Panj district, H.B., was detained in the operation carried out by the drug control officers in the border district of Panj on February 5. 10 packages containing 8 kilograms of raw opium and two wraps of narcotic drug tested positive to hashish weighing more than 2 kilograms were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the drug trafficker and an investigation is under way.
