DUSHANBE, February 6, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe police seized more than 13 kilograms of narcotics, including more than 9 kilograms of heroin, in two separate operations carried out on February 4 and 5, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said Afghan entrepreneur Gulbeddin Mehrab was arrested on February 4 on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. When searching his apartment, police officers found ten packages containing 9.146 kilograms of heroin.
On Friday February 5, resident of Dushanbe Azim Rahmonov was arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. 4.662 kilograms of marijuana were found in his home.
Since the beginning of this year, Tajik law enforcement authorities have seized some 400 kilograms of narcotics.
