DUSHANBE, February 8, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Monthly norms of winter precipitation have fallen in all regions of Tajikistan, except the northern Sughd province, over the past three days, Ms. Jamila Baydulloyeva, chairperson of the hydromet center within Tajikistan’s state agency for hydrometeorology, told Asia-Plus Monday afternoon.
According to her, more than one meter of snow has fallen in some mountain areas over the past weekends.
“Cold weather is expected in the country on the night of February 9-10,” said Baydulloyeva, “Overnight will be generally clear, so temperatures in planes, including Dushanbe, is expected to drop in the night to -13C° and Wednesday (February 10) noon temperatures will rise to -3Cº, while in mountain areas like Gorno Badakhshan and Jirgatol district in eastern Tajikistan temperatures are expected to drop to -20Cº.”
On February 11, weather is expected to be cloudy and overnight temperatures will drop to -6C^ and snow is expected on February 12-13 again, the hydromet center chairperson noted.
