DUSHANBE, February 15, 2010, Asia-Plus -- On sidelines of the Tajikistan-United States political consultations, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi had a conversation with the U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in Washington on February 12, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
In the course of the conversation, the two discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States, hydropower issues and the situation in Afghanistan.
It was also noted that development of long-term, stable and friendly relations between the Tajikistan and the United States meets interests of both countries and will promote development and establishment of peace and security in the region and the world as a whole, the source noted.
According to him, state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation, creation of favorable investment climate, human rights situation, border control as well as fight against illicit drug trafficking and international terrorism were among major topics of the Tajikistan-United States political consultations in Washington.
