DUSHANBE, February 16, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- Based on current data, the gross domestic product (GDP) for January 2010 was more than 1.157 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 265 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 4.2 percent over January 2009 in comparable prices, according to the State Committee for Statistics.

The country’s GDP for 2009 was 20.622 billion somoni (more than US$4.7 billion at the USD exchange rate for early January 2010).

Services accounted for 50.6 percent of the 2009 GDP, production of goods accounted for 31 percent and taxes accounted for 18.4 percent.
