DUSHANBE, February 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- In January 2010, Tajikistan produced a total of 571,3 million somoni (equivalent to more than 131 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the State Committee for Statistics.

Compared to January 2009, the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 103.2 percent.  In January 2009, the country produced 355.3 million somoni worth of industrial goods.   

Of the 82 basic types of industrial products the output of 34 items (41.5 per cent) increased, and the output of 27 (32.9 percent) decreased over the report period.

An 8.6 percent increase was reported in the fuel-and-energy sector, which produced 101.3 million somoni worth of products last month.  In January 2001, Tajikistan produced 1.45 billion kWh of electrical power, 37,800 gigacalories of heat energy, 1,300 tons of black coal, 2,600 tons of brown coal, 2,100 tons of oil and 2.7 million cubic meters of natural gas.
