DUSHANBE, February 20, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Two Uzbeks have been detained in Dushanbe on suspicion of having illegally crossed the border, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI). Moreover, it turned out that they have been wanted by Uzbek law enforcement authorities for drug trafficking.
The source at a MoI said that two Uzbek nationals – 37-year-old Madali Mamourov and 41-year-old Erkinjon Mamourov – were detained in Dushanbe’s Zarafshon neighborhood on February 19. “The preliminary investigation has established that they illegally crossed the border in August 2009 already and were illegally staying in Tajikistan all the time,” said the source, “Moreover, It turned out that they have been wanted by Uzbek law enforcement authorities for drug trafficking.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them and an investigation is under way.
