KHUJAND, February 24, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Qairoqqum hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in the Sughd province now generates 2.948 million kWh of electricity per day, according to the industry department within the Qairoqqum mayor’ office.
We will recall that Sughd’s daily requirements in electricity are now 14 million kWh.
Since the beginning of this year, the Qairoqqum station has generated 155.228 million kWh of electrical power, the source said.
In the meantime, Sughd electricity debts now amount to 144 million somoni. According to the branch of Barqi Tojik power holding (Tajikistan’s electricity supplier), the most incorrigible nonpayers are enterprises of the Sughd water economy directorate. These enterprises now owe 89.2 million somoni to Barqi Tojik. The public electricity debts amount to 29.4 million somoni.
