DUSHANBE, February 25, 2010, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday February 25, President Emomali Rahmon received Latvian Ambassador to Tajikistan Igors Apokins.
According to presidential press service, the sides discussed prospects of further expansion of bilateral economic and transportation cooperation between Tajikistan and Latvia.
Recent achievements in bilateral cooperation cited by the sides included direct air links between Dushanbe and Riga and use of Latvian seaports by Tajikistan for cargo shipments.
President Rahmon noted that there was considerable room for expansion of economic ties. Tajik leader outlined sectors like hydropower, agriculture, launch of joint ventures for production of building materials, processing of aluminum and farm produce, and minerals as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.
