DUSHANBE, March 9 2010, Asia-Plus -- An operation by Khtlon police has reportedly led to the seizure of a large amount of heroin in the Nosir Khusrav, Khatlon province.
According to the Minister of Interior (MoI), traffic police officers tried to stop Toyota Land Cruiser at the checkpoint in Khatlon’s Qubodiyon district on March 7 but driver did not obey and escaped. Later, the car was found in the Ravshanobod jamoat in the Nosir Khusrav district and police officers found 51.335 kilograms of heroin in it.
Police revealed several drug pushing cases on March 7-8 in northern Tajikistan as well.
Thus, resident of Sughd’s Mastchoh district, M.O, was detained in Sughd’s Spitamen district on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking and 2.5 kilograms of raw opium were confiscated from him.
Besides, resident of the northern city of Chkalovsk, B.R., was detained while he was trying to push one kilogram of hashish for US$600.
One kilogram of hashish was seized in Khujand, the capital of the Sughd province.
