DUSHANBE, March 19, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe on March 18 extended its condolences to the family of Muhammadsharif Himmatzoda and members of the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRPT).
In its message, the U.S. Embassy notes that Mr. Himmatzoda, a spiritual leader of the IRPT and a former party chairman, made a lasting contribution to peace in Tajikistan through his participation in the peace process that ended the Tajik civil war in 1997. His public service to the Tajik people during two terms as a member of parliament was an example to aspiring Tajik leaders.
