DUSHANBE, March 25, 2010, Asia-Plus -- A joint session of the city and district councils of Dushanbe that took place here on march 25 elected five members of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament).
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, President of the Academy of Sciences Mamadsho Ilolov, Tojikcement (Dushanbe cement plant) Director General Mahmadsaid Zuvaydov, Tajik National University Chancellor Nouriddin Saidov and Dushanbe’s School # 28 Principal Gulchehra Ghaniyeva were elected to the Majlisi Milli from Dushanbe’s constituency.
212 of 219 members of Dushanbe’s city and district councils took part at the joint session, the spokesman said.
The Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region, regions, Dushanbe City, towns and districts subordinate to the center have an equal number of representatives in the Majlisi Milli (five each).
