KHOROG/DUSHANBE, March 25, 2010, Asia-Plus -- A joint session of people’s deputies of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (Gorno Badakhshan or GBAO) that took place in Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan today elected five members of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament).
Saradbek Rajabbekov, a secretary for GBAO constituency for elections to the Majlisi Milli, says the GBAO Governor Qodir Qosim, Khorog State University Chancellor Gulkhoja Jangibekov, Rushan District Chairperson Qobilamo Ghulomshoyeva, the Badakhshonroh Director General Shamsmuhammad Nazriyev, and Head Physician of the GBAO Regional Hospital Shodi Gulayozov were elected to represent Gorno Badakhshan in parliament’s upper house.
We will recall that councils in Gorno Badakhshan nominated 6 candidates for the Majlisi Milli. Darvoz District Chairman Saydali Musofirov withdrew his candidacy on March 24, Rajabbekov said.
In the meantime, the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) says councils of cities and districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) elected Head of the General Association for Construction of Roghun HPP Khairullo Asoyev, Tursunzoda Mayor Davlatsho Gulmahmadov, Hissar District Chairman Bahriddin Solehov, Tojikobod District Chairman Makhsoum Fozilov and Roudaki District Chairman Masoud Qodirov to represent RRPs in the Majlisi Milli.
