KHUJAND, March 31, 2010, Asia-Plus -- An operation by officers from the Sughd counter narcotics directorate led to the arrest of suspect drug peddler in the Spitamen district on March 30, according to the Sughd counternarcotics directorate.
A package containing 2.724 kilograms of hashish was confiscated from him. “The detainee, 27-year-old M. from the Zafarobod district, said the seized narcotic drug belongs to two residents of the Zafarobod district, S. and A.,” said the source, noting that they were arrested the same day.
“They said they purchased the hashish from Uzbek national A., who is engaged in illegally delivering mineral fertilizers and fuels to Sughd from the Uzbek district of Khavost,” the source added.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against those three alleged drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
