DUSHANBE, April 2, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan has seen slight currency devaluation since March 15.
At Dushanbe’s currency exchange offices, the Tajik national currency, the somoni, has fallen nearly one percent against the dollar over the report period – from 4.36:1 on March 15 to 4.40:1 on April 2.
In the meantime, an official exchange rate of the dollar set by the National bank of Tajikistan (NBT) for April 2 is 1:4.3674, according to the NBT press service.
Exchange rates of the Euro and Russian (RR) ruble have decreased at the city exchange offices over the past week to 1:5.60 and 10:1.48 respectively. On March 26, the Euro exchange rate was 1:5.87 and the RR exchange rate was 10:1.49.
In the meantime, since the beginning of this year, the Euro has fallen against the somoni more than 12 percent – from 1:6.31 on January 1 to 1:5.60 on April 2.
