KULOB, April 9, 2010, Asia-Plus -- 35 young men from the Hamadoni district, Khatlon province have volunteered for military service, the Hamadoni chief recruitment officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Azam Rezvonov, told reporters on April 8.
According to him, volunteering for military service is becoming a good tradition in the district. “During the 2009 autumn conscription campaign, 21 local men of call-up age volunteered for military service, while during this year’s spring conscription campaign, the number of volunteers will double,” Rezvonov said.
We will recall that young Tajiks are drafted into the country’s armed forces from April through May 2010. The draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old, who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
