DUSHANBE, April 13, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- The branches of Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys and Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University) are expected to be opened in Tajikistan in this year, the Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov told reporters in Dushanbe on April 12.

We will recall that a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Russia on the procedure of establishment and functioning of branches of Russian higher educational institutions in Tajikistan and branches of Tajik higher educational institutions in the Russian Federation was signed in Moscow on December 14, 2009.  Under this document, the branches of Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys and Moscow Power Engineering Institute are expected to be established in Tajikistan.

The minister also noted that another two faculties would be opened at the branches of the Moscow State University in Dushanbe this year.  “45 students are currently studying at two faculties of the branch – Mathematics and International Relations,” the minister said.

Rahmonov added that the Bauman Moscow State Technical University was ready to accept students from Tajikistan this year.

“1,500 Tajik student are currently studying at universities and colleges in the United States, 5,000 Tajik students are studying at universities in Russia, more than 60 Tajik students are studying at universities in Malaysia, 200 in China, 13 in Sweden, 10 in Germany and 15 in Belgium,” the minister said.
