DUSHANBE, April 19, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Barakat market and the Justice Ministry’s pretrial detention facility located in the center in Dushanbe will be demolished in the near future, Abduvali Komilov, the head of the Agency for Construction and Architecture, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on April 19.
According to him, the authorities are seeking to move the market and the pretrial detention facility, which are located in the center of the capital city, as part of a municipal redevelopment plant that includes the construction of modern buildings.
“A theatre and a new building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be constructed in the place of the Barakat market, while the market will be moved to other area of Dushanbe,” said Komilov, “One of options is to move the market to the Zarafshon area.”
As far as the pretrial detention facility of the Ministry of Justice is concerned, it will be moved to the Vahdat district, he added.
