DUSHANBE, April 29, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan and China have signed a border demarcation protocol, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
The protocol demonstrating the complete settlement of the border issue left over by history of the two countries was signed in Beijing by Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi and his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
We will recall that at the time of independence, portions of the Tajik boundary with China were not defined. This boundary dispute was settled in agreements signed in 2002 that ceded 1,000 km² of Pamir mountain range to China in return for China relinquishing claims to 28,000 km² of Tajik lands.
