DUSHANBE, April 3, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the counternarcotics agency have seized a large consignment of narcotics in the city of Kulob.
According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA), 63.6 kilograms of narcotics were found hidden in a car belonging to the 31-year-old M.H. on May 1. “When searching the car, officers from the Khatlon counternarcotics directorate found 63 packages containing 61.5 kilograms of raw opium and 2.1 kilograms of heroin,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against M.H. and an investigation is under way.
In the meantime, the 34-year-old resident of Sughd’s Isfara district, Ehson Safarov, was detained on May 2 on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. 1.8 kilograms of hashish were found in his house, according to the Ministry of Interior.
