DUSHANBE, May 20, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Shukurjon Zuhurov yesterday received Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
According to the Majlisi Namoyandagon press service, the sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
Zuhurov, in particular, noted that Tajikistan attached significance to cooperation with Iran, which was one of strategic partners. He noted that cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries was successfully expanding along with cultural and economic cooperation.
Mottaki, for his part, expressed confidence that the new Tajik parliament would continue strengthening ties with the Majlis (parliament) of the Islamic Republic of Iran and invited Tajik MPs to visit Iran for further strengthening of ties with their Iranian colleagues.
The two also discussed a number of regional issues being of mutual interest as well as attraction of investments from Iran for implementation of economic development and energy projects in Tajikistan.
