DUSHANBE, May 21, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Government of the Great Britain will provide required financial support to three institutes of Tajikistan to combat infectious diseases and to improve the existing health care system.
The British Government will provide financial support and scientific assistance with the purpose to develop the Institute of Preventive Medicine, Institute of Zoology and Parasitology and Tajik State Epidemiological Control Service located in Dushanbe, a spokesman for the British Embassy in Tajikistan Samandar Doliev told Asia-Plus.
According to him, these institutes will carry out an important scientific survey of dangerous epidemiologic pathogenic microorganisms and transmissible diseases to improve public health care. The British government will provide essential equipment and will create a foundation for exposure and transmission control of infectious diseases in Tajikistan.
“The Institute of Preventive Medicine will study various viruses which caused multiple infectious diseases such as Q fever; the Institute of Zoology and Parasitology will study transmissible diseases such as malaria; the Tajik State Epidemiologic Control Service will deal with diseases transmitted by water in transboundary rivers of Fergana Valley. This final project is jointly funded by the government of Canada and will involve scientists from Kyrgyzstan,” Doliev added.
