DUSHANBE, May 25. “Asia Plus” -- Rogun hydropower station shares and certificates worth nearly 818mln Somoni (over $186,5mln) are reported sold as of May 20 this year, Tajik Finance Ministry reports.

In particular, more than 35.8mln Somoni were transferred to Amonatbonk State Saving Bank accounts, nearly 155mln Somoni to Orienbonk’s accounts, over 118mln Somoni to Agroinvestbonk, over 11mln to Tajprombank, nearly 20mln Somoni to Tojiksodirotbank, over 2,7mln to Bank of Development of Tajikistan, more than 3mln to Fononbonk, 4,2mln to Bank Eshata and over 467,8mln Somoni to the Treasury of the Tajik Finance Ministry.

Shares of Rogun hydropower station worth nearly $1,37bln were issued in Tajikistan on January 6 this year. Funds gained from sale of shares are being accumulated in eight banks which play the role of sale agents. A total of 800 sale points have been opened in Tajikistan.

Tajik Finance Ministry is planning to place free funds gained from sale of shares and certificates of the OAO Rogun Hydropower Station on deposit accounts in Tajik commercial banks till the end of 2010.

On May 25 Tajik Finance Ministry will conduct a contest for Tajik banks. All banks of the country are invited to take part in the competition.

“Banks should submit reliable reports on the liquidity and indicate the volume of attracted depository funds and interest rates,” the source added.

Tajik Finance Ministry stressed that the winner will have the most sustainable liquidity level with higher profitability of depository funds.
