DUSHANBE, May 25. “Asia Plus” -- Special border crossing regime introduced by Uzbekistan for citizens of Tajikistan on May 14 remains in force at Tursunzade section of the border, a spokesman for Tajik Border Guards Hushnud Rahmatulloev told the AP.
According to him, border crossing procedures at other directions of Tajik-Uzbek border as well as in northern part of Tajikistan are carried out in regular regime.
“Uzbekistan stresses that these measures are of temporary character and seek to prevent penetration of poliomyelitis to Uzbekistan,” the source has said.
Meanwhile, according to the Uzbek Embassy in Tajikistan, tough border crossing limitations were not applied to diplomats, passengers travelling to third countries and citizens of Tajikistan travelling to Uzbekistan upon invitations to funeral ceremonies or those who decided to visit their sick relatives.
