DUSHANBE. June 1. “Asia-Plus” -- In its letter to Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov Russian public association “Tajik labor migrants” urges Uzbekistan to let trains with relief assistance pass to Tajikistan.

“Nearly 1000 wagons loaded with medicines, foodstuffs, construction and fuel materials for disaster affected Khatlon area remain at Uzbek-Tajik border. Over 1.220 wagons with cargoes for Tajikistan’s capital of Dushanbe remain blocked on the territory of Uzbekistan. This caused the growth in prices at consumer market and rapid decrease in purchase capacity of the population,” the statement says.

In their statement Tajik labor migrants and their compatriots in Russia urge Uzbekistan’s President to allocate related amount of funds to open Tajik-Uzbek border and let trains loaded with relief assistance for Tajikistan to pass.

“This will be a clear demonstration of our traditional friendship, mutual trust and good neighborly relations,” the association said in the statement.

According to the updated information, 2.182 wagons, including 968 wagons with cargoes for Kurgon-Teppa and 1.214 for Dushanbe, remain blocked on the territory of Uzbekistan.
