DUSHANBE. June 4. “Asia-Plus” -- Two gunmen killed as a result of a special operation who have been on-the-run since June 2 were under investigation, Tajik Interior Ministry told the AP today. Their names are not being reported.
According to the source, the criminals were hiding in one of remote villages in Varzob region. Several units of firearms reported found at the scene. “We believe the two were more likely planning to destabilize the situation in the country,” the source said. SWAT teams were also involved in the operation.
As a result of the operation one SWAT officer, Tohir Safarov, was shot dead.
