DUSHANBE. June 7. “Asia-Plus” -- Tajik banks refrain from purchasing Euro due to unstable exchange rate of the European currency at the global market, head of the Tajik National Bank Sharif Rahimzoda said. He believes that depreciation of the European currency is connected with weak economies of several EU countries.
“Euro, which started to drop in Tajikistan in early May, continues to depreciate against its depreciation at other financial markets,” he said, adding that this fact forces Tajik banks to refrain from the risk of making any transactions in Euro. “Banks are afraid that Euro will continue to depreciate and they will suffer losses,” he said.
According to the Tajik National Bank, exchange rate of one EUR in Dushanbe exchange offices makes 5.37 Somoni.
Meanwhile, according to Sharif Rahimzoda, the US dollar started to grow at the Tajik market. Today’s average rate of one US dollar in Dushanbe exchange offices makes 4.44 Somoni. 10 Russian rubles cost 1.43 Somoni. One week ago exchange rate of one US dollar was 4.43 Somoni, while rate of 10 Russian rubles was 1.41 Somoni.
