Dushanbe. June 18. “Asia-Plus” -- The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is not planning to send its forces, including peacekeepers, to Kyrgyzstan, RIA Novosti reports citing press service of CSTO secretariat as source.
CSTO, however, promised to provide comprehensive assistance to Kyrgyz law enforcement structures and special services in terms of resolution of a crisis situation and its normalization. The organization is about to send its experts to plan and prepare operations aimed at prevention of mass disorders and identification of instigators.
CSTO has Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belorussia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan among its member states.
Meanwhile, 70% of buildings in Osh are reported totally destroyed by fire, 24.kg Kyrgyz news agency reports citing Osh administration as source.
According to preliminary estimations, 76 big public buildings and municipal facilities have been totally destroyed. The total damage caused to the city remains unclear.
Inter-ethnic clashes between Kyrgyz and Uzbeks started in Osh on June 11. The interim government of the republic has announced emergency situation in Osh district. Mass disorders then spread to Jalal-Abad. Emergency regime has also been introduced in Jalal-Abad. Riot participants were destroying vehicles, local shops, bazaars and houses.
Officially, more than 190 people have been killed and more than 2000 injured in the riots. The number of refugees reached 75,000 but the figure is not final.
