Dushanbe. June 21. “Asia-Plus” -- The Dushanbe traffic police has launched a two-day special operation aimed to prevent carriage of passengers in so-called “tangems” – mini route taxes of Chinese manufacture, a spokesman for the Dushanbe traffic police Sherafgan Latifov told the AP.
He said that the goal of the operation is to ensure traffic safety in Dushanbe.
“Starting from today, carriage of passengers in so-called “tangems” in Dushanbe is forbidden,” he said, adding that similar ban on carriage of passengers which was introduced in early April this year, concerned only carriage of passengers in Chinese mini-buses running along protocol roads of Dushanbe.
According to Latifov, today traffic police officers will make only verbal notices to drivers of “tangems” who carry passengers. However, starting from tomorrow, such drivers will have to pay big fines or may be deprived of driving licenses.
