Dushanbe. June 21. “Asia-Plus” -- On June18, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, who is currently on his working trip to XUAR, met with the media of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of the People’s Republic of China.
In the course of this meeting, President Rahmon called establishment of direct links between Tajikistan and XUAR “another important step for revival of the Great Silk Road,” President’s press service reports.
Rahmon noted that in the past few years the number of Tajik students in Chinese universities has increased several times and reached 600 people. This, he said, shows not only the development of trade and economic and investment links between the two countries, but also the development of humanitarian relations.
During the meeting President Rahmon also urged the media of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of the People’s Republic of China to pay regular visits to Tajikistan.
