Dushanbe. June 23. “Asia-Plus” -- The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development is allocating a loan to Tajikistan for construction of Kulob-Kalaikhumb road project (Shurobod-Shagon section of the road). Corresponding agreement with the Government of Tajikistan was recently signed in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
According to Tajik Ministry of Finance, this $15mln loan will be allocated for 15-year period, including 5-year preferential term with interest rate of less than 2%.
The source said the project will let increase the flow of passengers and goods and will improve movement of cargoes between Tajikistan and neighboring countries. “Implementation of this project will also let reduce expenditures for exploitation of transport facilities, reduce production costs, develop tourism and increase competitiveness of Tajikistan in the field of international transit transportations,” the source has said.
Tajik Ministry of Finance said that further implementation of the Kulob-Kalaikhumb road construction project will be funded by the Islamic Development Bank, Saudi Fund for Development, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, OPEC Fund for International Development. These organizations will allocate $70mln loan to Tajikistan. Tajikistan’s share in the project will make $7,9mln. The project will be implemented in the course of three years
(2010-2012).
