KULOB, June 29, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Kulob-based public association, Nakoukor, conducted a number of actions in three districts of the Kulob zone in Khatlon province yesterday in order to raise TB awareness among the local population.
According to the Nakoukor head Bahodur Hoitov, the actions were part of the project for raising the Khatlon population awareness of tuberculosis, which is implemented under financial support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).
“The project targets residents of the Kulob jamoat in the Kulob district, Pakhtakor jamoat in the Vose district and the Chubek jamoat in the Hamadoni district,” Hoitov said. These jamoats have been chosen because they account for some 60 percent of TB patients officially registered in the region, the Nakoukor head added.
