DUSHANBE, July 1, 2010, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday July 1, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi received Turkmen Ambassador to Tajikistan Nokerguly Ataguliyev at his request, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
In the course of the talks, the two exchanged views on topical issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
The sides, in particular, underlined the importance of further implementation of agreements reached by the heads of the two countries and participation in implementation of regional projects.
Zarifi and Ataguliyev also discussed an expansion of legal foundation of Tajik-Turkmen cooperation and foreign political interaction between the two countries. In this context, they pointed out an important role of Tajik-Turkmen inter-MFA consultations that are scheduled to take place in Ashgabat and Dushanbe this year.
They also touched upon a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest, including the international conference on Afghanistan that will take place in Kabul on July 20.
