DUSHANBE, July 2, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- President Emomali Rahmon today morning received Nikolai Bordyuzha, the Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with President Rahmon, Mr. Bordyuzha said that Tajik president signed a resolution on providing urgent assistance to the CSTO member nations, “in this case, to Kyrgyzstan.”

According to him, the draft resolution was prepared by the Security Council secretaries of the CSTO member nations at the end of last month.  “The President of Tajikistan assured us that Tajikistan will provide military and technical assistance to Kyrgyzstan within the limits of the possible,” Bordyuzha said.

The CSTO secretary-general noted that the mechanism of providing such assistance was currently being worked out.

“We also discussed preparations for an informal summit of the CSTO heads of state that will take place in Yerevan, Armenia in August this year,” he said.

On the current situation in Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Bordyuzha noted that the potential possibility of destabilization of the situation in Kyrgyzstan still existed.  “We welcome the referendum conducted in Kyrgyzstan as a result of which, the country received legitimate authority,” he stressed.
