DUSHANBE, July 6, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- Tajikistan is interested in expansion of economic cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) area, President Emomali Rahmon remarked at a news conference in the Kazakh capital Astana on July 5, following a meeting of the EAEC Interstate Council.

According to Tajik presidential press service, one of decisions adopted by heads of member nations of EAEC related to allocation of a 70 million U.S. dollars preferential loan to Tajikistan from the EAEC Anti-crisis Fund.

The EAEC heads of state also discussed measures taken by the EAEC member nations to mitigate effects of the global financial crisis.

In the meantime, ITAR TASS reports that Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev declared at EAEC Interstate Council Meeting on July 5 that he is satisfied that the measures EAEC member-states took in the EAEC format helped to a certain extent survive the main phase of the world financial crisis.  The establishment of the Anti-crisis Fund, development and realization of a plan of joint measures to overcome negative consequences of the financial crisis have promoted efforts for overcoming the crisis phenomena, the Kazakh president said.

Nazarbayev congratulated all the participants in the meeting upon the tenth anniversary since the EAEC establishment. "Ten years after its establishment we say with confidence that the EAEC is the most successful international structure within the post- Soviet area," Nazarbayev stressed.  He expressed the hope that that EAEC in future will conform to the highest standards in the field of international cooperation and economic integration. ''''Today, it is a realistic venue for deepening integration of our states in economy, education, culture, science, social and other fields, " Nazarbayev said.
