KULOB, July 6, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Farmers in ten districts of the Kulob zone in Khatlon province have produced 88,527 tons of grains, with majority of them being wheat, from some 34,000 hectares to this day, Asia-Plus has learned from Abdullo Rajabov, a lead specialist with the Kulob agriculture directorate.
According to him, local farmers have planted grains on 97,163 hectares this year and some farming units have reported harvests of up to 3 tons per hectare. “Meanwhile, this year’s torrential rain and mud falls have affected many areas under grains in five districts,” Rajabov added.
