KULOB, July 13, 2010, Asia-Plus /Turko Dikayev/ -- Over the first six months of this year, labor migrants have remitted 37,335,387 U.S. dollars to banks in the Kulob zone of Khatlon province, which is US$19,083,067 dollars more than in the same period last year, Abdukarim Nematov, the head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Kulob, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“Besides, they have remitted 528,685,135 Russian rubles (RR) to local banks over the same six-month period, which is RR309,773,464 more that in January-June 2009,” Nematov said noting that euro remittances to local banks have increased by €16,400 compared to the first half-year of 2009.
