KHUJAND, July 17, 2010, Asia-Plus -- To protect local farmland against locusts Sughd has to treat the last 4,500 hectares, Shavkat Osimov, the head of the Sughd agricultural chemicalization enterprise, told Asia-Plus on Saturday.
According to him, 24,175 hectares of lands in 12 districts of the province have been affected by locusts. “To-date, we have treated 19,615 hectares of these lands,” Osimov said.
The most hit areas are Bobojonghafurov (5,750 ha), Mastchoh (4,200 ha), Zafarobod (3,700 ha) and Asht (2,400 ha) districts.
