KHUJAND, July 20, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Five city and district radio stations in Sughd province want to make shift to FM broadcasting, Asia-Plus has learned at TV and radio-transmitting center # 2 in Khujand.
The source says the state-run radio stations of the cities of Khujand, Chkalovsk, Konibodom and Isfara as well as Zafarobod district intend to broadcast on FM frequency. “They want to use FM frequencies as an alternative access to the air,” said he, “They plan to make shift to the FM broadcasting gradually as they find financing sources for purchasing and installing transmitters.”
Meanwhile, local radio station of Bobojonghafurov district made shift the FM broadcasting last January already. They now broadcast their own programs 3-4 hours per day and the rest of the time they air programs of the second republican radio channel.
