DUSHANBE, July 24, 2010, Asia-Plus -- In 2009, an average life expectancy for all people in Tajikistan was 72 years, Ms. Yelena Kislitsina, the chairperson of the demographic statistics department within the Agency for Statistics, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 23.
According to her, the average life expectancy for males last year was 69 years and for females the average life expectancy was 74 years, a difference of five years.
She stressed that compared to 2008 men’s average life expectancy fell half a year last year. Kilitisina added that no considerable changes have taken place compared to the Soviet time.
